A European Union Career

- from CBS to EU spokesperson. Guest Lecture by Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen organised by the Department of International Business Communication.

Wednesday, September 30, 2015 - 15:00 to 16:30

This is an opportunity to meet Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, former spokeswoman of the European Commission and of President José Manuel Barroso, and hear how she has used her CBS background in different jobs within the European Union system over the years. She will also provide insights into entry requirements and tests and the role of internships in embarking on a career in the European Union.

Communication has been central to Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen’s work in liaising with the press corps as Commission spokeswoman. She will talk about her experience of doing this job and of her close cooperation with Commission members and other politicians. Pia will also touch upon the challenges of “communicating the EU” in years of economic crisis and increasing EU scepticism.

Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen was part of the first batch of SPRØK students and graduated from CBS as Master of Science in International Business Administration and Modern Languages in 1990. Since then she has made her career in Brussels, and she is now the Director for EU Representations in Member States based in the Directorate-General for Communication. From October 2009 until November 2014 she was Spokeswoman of the European Commission and of President José Manuel Barroso.
