Department of Management, Society and Communication
Multi- and interdisciplinary by birth, the Department of Management, Society and Communication brings together scholarship within management, communication and the broader social sciences and humanities, studying organisations in global environments and the interaction and interdependencies of business, society and government.
Across research groups, much of MSC’s work revolves around the role and responsibilities of companies in the face of the grand challenges facing society. Crucially, this also involves examining the opportunities and mutual advantage for both sides when business adopts a more proactive stance in engaging these challenges.
MSC researchers collaborate with the many colleagues and research environments at CBS and internationally that in multiple ways connect to, complement and deepen MSC’s research. At CBS, MSC, with MPP and DBP, shares a particular responsibility for CBS Sustainability, the successor of the 5-year CBS Business in Society Sustainability Platform, whilst also being a member (with IOA, MPP, Law and DBP) of CBS Public-Private, the successor of the 5-year CBS Business in Society Public-Private Platform.
