01/31/2014

Two Italians, a Pole and a Rumanian, all master students of International Business at the University of Southern Denmark was crowned the winners of the ComCaseCompetition 2014.

CCC’14 was once again hosted by the Danish Association of Communication Professionals, Young Communicators and Copenhagen Business School.

This is the first time that a non Danish team wins the ComCaseCompetition

Ten teams representing fourteen nationalities had 24 hours to come up with a solution on how Publishing and Entertainment giant Egmont should be branded digitally. The team from SDU, Michele De Rosso, Federico Angelo Triolo, Piotr Kuich and Hristos Fleturis won the award for an innovative initiative letting the consumers donate their old books for educational use and in exchange receive a voucher for digital content. The proposal unites Egmont’s tradition for CSR and the wish to enhance the digital presence.

Vice President Corporate Communications, Line Aarsland, Egmont says:

'It's been great to be subject to talented students' attention and critical issues for more than 24 hours and see the result in really good out of the box ideas. We will take many of these ideas back to Egmont. The winning idea ties, very beautifully, our history and charitable focus with the development from print to digital, and creates engagement and interaction. We look forward to develop the idea.'
Chairman of the jury and Professor at Durham University, Timothy Clark, who has been a part of the ComCaseCompetition since the beginning, remarks that the quality this year is significantly higher than ever before:
‘It has actually been the most difficult competition to judge, because the levels of all the finalists are so high. Therefore we decided to choose a solution that is consistent with Egmont’s core values and is affordable to implement. '

Associate Professor at CBS, Karl-Heinz Pogner, CBS, who is a member of the steering committee remarks on the quest of the competition as:

'When entering the job market, the students will discover that it will not only be their academic skills that will be the most important factor. It will be their ability to develop corporate communication and be innovative, that counts. ComCaseCompetition helps the students test their ability to do so and to convert their theoretical foundation into a practical reality.'

The chairman of the Danish Association of Communication Professionals is pleased to help bridging the gap between study and future work places.
'We choose the biggest challenge for ComCaseCompetition, we can find. Last year, participants had to create a communication platform for Maersk Group in Africa. This year’s challenge is to create a solution suited for a multi-brand conglomerate and numerous communications platforms, says the President of the Danish Association of Communication Professionals, Tina Donnerberg.’
