We have invited the Ambassador Juan Fernando Rojas Samanez, Viceminister of Foreign Affairs of Peru to come and talk about Peru and the Pacific Alliance: Opportunities for the European Union.

Ambassador Juan Fernando Rojas Samanez, Viceminister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, was born in Arequipa on June 24, 1948. He majored in International Relations and graduated as diplomat in the Diplomatic Academy of Peru. He pursued further studies in the Department of Economic Sciences of the National University San Agustin of Arequipa, Peru. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among other positions, he has served as Director General for Economic Affairs (2011-2012).

Ambassador Rojas has represented Peru in various meetings and conferences of international organizations, most notably the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In the frame of the United Nations, he has participated in meetings of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and of the Conference of the United Nations on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Moreover, he has also taken part in various meetings in the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and the Pacific Alliance, among other regional and global forums.
