Major research recognition for MSC PhD graduate

Anders Kryger

Dr Anders Kryger, who gained his PhD degree from MSC in September 2018, has received two awards for his research:

 

Doctoral research award

His doctoral dissertation, “Aligning future employee action and corporate strategy in a resource-scarce environment”, has won a ‘Highly Commended Award’ in the 2018 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards (ODRA) in the Management and Governance category, selected by the editorial team of the journal Management Decision. ODRA is a joint doctoral research award co-run by Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, publisher of international business and management journals, and EFMD, an international not-for-profit membership  organisation with members from academia, business, public sector and consultancy (read more

Emerald Literati award

At the same time, Anders Kryger’s article, “Iterative prototyping of strategy implementation workshop design”, published in the Journal of Strategy and Management (vol. 11 no. 2), has been selected by the editorial team of the journal as a ‘Highly Commended paper’ in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards. The ‘Awards for Excellence’ are awarded by Emerald Publishing in order to ‘celebrate and reward the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers to scholarly research’. The authors’ awards of excellence fall into two categories, Outstanding and Highly Commended (read more on Emerald’s website).

 

Research focus

Anders Kryger, who was an Industrial PhD fellow at MSC (supervised by Associate Professor Maribel Blasco) and at MAN Energy Solutions, in his PhD research studied the complexities involved in the alignment of planned actions and strategic reorientation in organizational contexts. In his recent article, Anders Kryger in particular focused on demonstrating how a strategy implementation workshop design can be developed and tested while minimizing the time spent on developing the design.
