NexGSD Seminar invitation

Human Aspects of Global Software Development

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - 13:00 to 17:00

Human Aspects of Global Software Development

The NexGSD research team has selected you exclusively and hereby cordially invites you to participate in the seminar on Human Aspects of Global Software Development which we have been studying since 2011. Participating will give you the opportunity to engage with a smaller group of representatives of various IT companies/departments and to be presented with new theoretical perspectives and empirical findings relating to some of the challenges you face when working in and managing globally distributed teams - hopefully sparking a fruitful discussion

At this seminar we will focus on two specific issues:

1) How to deal with cultural differences and develop common ground in geographically distributed teams

2) How to develop awareness of remote team members’ abilities and contribution; and hereby pave the way for a smoother and more efficient use of distributed teams.

We hope to create a dynamic environment of dialogue, knowledge exchange and learning. Hence the highly interactive format will consist of two brief presentations of preliminary research findings related to the issues mentioned above, followed by group based casework illustrating some of the challenges met in practice when global software development teams collaborate. You will have the opportunity to discuss in groups of peers, and the casework will be facilitated by members of the research team in order to relate concepts, introduced in the presentations, to the issues observed in a collaborative practice.
