Dan Kärreman is Professor in Management and Organization Studies at Copenhagen Business School since March 2009. He has previously held positions at the School of Economics and Management, Lund University, Sweden - where he still is affiliated -- and the School of Business, Economics and Law, Gothenburg University. His research interests include critical management studies, knowledge work, identity in organizations, leadership, organizational control, innovation and research methodology. His work has been published in Academy of Management Review, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Organization, Organization Science, and Organization Studies, among others.

Currently, professor Kärreman takes a particular interest in the areas of knowledge work, identity and leadership. The emergence of knowledge work and the knowledge worker has changed the dynamics in organizations, particularly in organizations that have a significant population of knowledge workers. More specifically, this means that dominant modes of control and co-ordination in organizations have become increasingly problematic to apply, and new forms of control and co-ordination has emerged. As a consequence, the leadership phenomenon and cultural forms of control, such as ideology and identity regulations, have become important areas of study.
