CBS students in Uganda on field study

‘Lions on the move’ is the new buzzword for the present growth of the private sector in Africa.  CBS is following hot on heels. 20 CBS master students are currently on a field trip in Uganda seeking to gain knowledge about the Lions as they carry out research projects about entrepreneurship and private sector development.

The objectives of the field trip are threefold: to increase students’ knowledge about business in Africa; to sensitize students to the challenges of doing research in a developing country setting; and expand their intercultural communicative skills.

In Uganda the CBS students work together with students from Makerere University Business School. They work in groups of four with two students from each university. The groups are working on a string of pertinent topics such as Danish-Ugandan business partnerships, social entrepreneurship, female entrepreneurship, micro-finance, eco-preneurship, access to finance for small enterprises, public-private partnerships, innovations in the use of mobile phones and Asian entrepreneurs in Uganda.

The field trip is part of a new master level elective offered by the Business, Language and Culture Study Board at the two master programs in Leadership and Management Studies (LMS) and Business & Development Studies (BADS). The course has been designed in collaboration with students and staff from CBS and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Uganda.
