Department history and faculty diversity
The Department is one of the best established academic centers of marketing in Europe.
Max Kjær Hansen founded the Department in 1931; 85 years later, it is one of the two oldest departments at Copenhagen Business School. Max Kjær Hansen’s marketing research, as well as work by Arne Rasmussen, won the Department international recognition for what was then known as the Copenhagener School. These early examples initiated the Department’s long track record of international excellence.
With almost 35 full-time international faculty (including PhD fellows and research assistants), representing a variety of backgrounds, research interests, and methodological approaches, the Department embodies an excellent combination of broad and deep expertise. Our faculty reflect diversity in age, gender, nationality, and seniority. In addition, the Department maintains about 110 part-time lecturers with strong practice-relevant experience.
