FAQ

How do I find books on the reading list?

Log in to CBS Canvas and select your course. If you do not yet have access to CBS Canvas, you can check the Academic Books website. They publish reading lists approximately 14 days before the course starts: www.academicbooks.dk/en/pensumlister

At the library, you'll find most course books in the Course Collection by the entrance. The collection is organised by subject rather than by course, just like the rest of the library’s book collection. The books are arranged in numerical order according to their call number, followed by three letters.

There is usually a copy available for reading inside the library. You can find the location by searching in Libsearch.

Access to an online article

There are many ways to find articles.
We recommend using Find journals if you know the title of the journal in which the article was published. Search for the journal title and navigate to the volume and issue in which the article appears.

Example of a journal article reference

Hoegl, M. & Schulze, A. (2005). How to support knowledge creation in new product development: An investigation of knowledge management methods. European Management Journal, 23(3), 263–273.

References to journal articles can often be recognised by the inclusion of volume, issue and page numbers, such as 23(3), 263–273. In the example above, you should therefore search for European Management Journal in Find journals.

Articles in Danish-language journals

The Danish journals subscribed to by the library can also be found via Find journals. At www.bibliotek.dk, you can find many more Danish-language journals and see which libraries hold subscriptions to them.
CBS students and employees can easily order copies of articles through bibliotek.dk from journals not available from the library at CBS.

Do you have this book?

Use the library system Libsearch to search for books.

Libsearch contains all the books available on the shelves and all the e-books the library has purchased access to. In addition, you will also find journal articles, most of which are available online.

Search using a few words from the title and, if needed, add the author’s surname.

When you find the book in Libsearch, note the floor and the call number – this indicates where the book is located on the shelves, for example, Book Collection – 2nd floor; 001.81 rei.

All books are arranged according to a numerical code followed by three letters. The number corresponds to a subject area, and the letters are the first three of the author’s surname or the book’s title.

The classification numbers range from 001–939. The sequence starts on the 1st floor by the window and continues on the lower ground floor.

Examples:
001.81 rei
658.850 ben

Feel free to ask a library employee for help finding the right shelf.

Can I see other people’s theses?

Theses written CBS students can be found in Student Theses database. This collection contains online theses from 2009 onwards, which can be downloaded in PDF format. If you are looking for theses from a specific programme, search using the programme name in quotation marks, for example "International Marketing and Management".

In the search system Libsearch, you can search for both online theses and older printed theses held at the library.
Search for the topic you are interested in and use the "Student Theses" filter.

The library receives a copy of all master’s and HD theses as well as selected theses from CBS part-time master programmes.

All non-confidential theses are registered and published in full text in the Student Theses database.
Confidential electronic theses are registered in a separate archive and are not made publicly available.
