Educational quality
CBS’ vision is to deliver high educational quality to ensure that our students and graduates meet the highest international standards.
Continuous improvement of educational quality
Strong graduates
We aim to deliver graduates with a strong, fundamental understanding of business and transformative competences to the business community. CBS is a large business university, both in terms of the number of students and the variety of programmes we offer.
Systematic data collection
In our work with educational quality, we focus on continuous improvements based on systematic data collection, dialogue and input from internal and external stakeholders.
The quality assurance system
The quality assurance system is governed by the quality assurance policy and a number of sub-policies. Together, they ensure that the quality of CBS’ programmes is continuously monitored and developed.
Quality assurance system for study programmes at CBS
Standards and processes
The programmes must comply with a number of quality standards, including the requirement to be research-based.
This is ensured through established processes built on a comprehensive data foundation consisting of both quantitative and qualitative data as well as feedback from a range of contributors.
CBS’ quality assurance system consists of:
- data
- processes
- stakeholders responsible for educational quality
The programmes must also address strategic initiatives, which have been defined as part of the development of the quality of CBS’ programmes.
Policies in the quality assurance system
The quality assurance system works in such a way that educational strategic initiatives work directly with CBS’ programmes and with the quality policy, which consists of a number of sub-policies that also contribute to CBS’ programmes.
Overall, the system consists of the following elements, all of which contribute to CBS’ programmes:
- Educational strategic initiatives
- Quality policy
- Sub-policies
The quality policy and the sub-policies are evaluated and adjusted on a regular basis and when needed.
You can find the quality policy and all sub-policies below.
You can find the departmental policies for part-time faculty (DVIP) on External lecturer.

Evaluation
Evaluation policy (Panel content)
Evaluation of teaching and programmes
CBS evaluates both teaching and the programmes themselves with the aim of developing teaching at course level, the programmes as a whole and CBS’ teaching environment in general.
Students’ feedback and satisfaction are collected systematically through surveys and are anchored in CBS’ quality policy.
Student evaluations
The following student evaluations are carried out at CBS:
- Teaching evaluations
- Programme evaluations
Teaching evaluation (Panel content)
All ECTS-credited courses at CBS are evaluated by students.
Teaching evaluation consists of course evaluations and project evaluations, and both the teaching and the lecturer or supervisor are evaluated.
Course evaluation
In the course evaluations, we ask students about their experience with the course in general. Both the teaching and the lecturer are evaluated.
In all course evaluations at CBS, students are asked about:
- student engagement
- learning objectives
- satisfaction with the lecturer
- the teaching overall
Project evaluation
There are different types of project evaluations. Project evaluations at CBS are divided into two groups:
- Evaluations of final projects
- Evaluations of courses (possibly with a named supervisor) that conclude with a project exam and may include varying degrees of teaching during the course.
Programme evaluation (Panel content)
CBS conducts evaluations at programme level, which are used to develop the programmes and the overall framework for programmes.
Student satisfaction
Student satisfaction is measured via the Danish Study Survey and CBS’ annual evaluation.
The Danish Study Survey
The Ministry of Higher Education and Science (UFM) conducts "the Danish Study Survey" every two years, focusing on themes such as wellbeing, academic outcomes and learning.
CBS’ annual evaluation
Every year in May/June, CBS conduct an annual evaluation of the current academic year.
The survey is carried out across all bachelor and master programmes and includes questions within the following 5 themes:
- recommendation rate
- administration
- study environment
- academic outcomes
- teaching
Results from the survey can be found here:
Study start evaluation
At CBS, the study start is evaluated across bachelor and master programmes.
The questionnaire includes:
- general questions about students’ sense of belonging to their programme
- specific questions about study start activities, including compliance with rules related to study start
- information provided in connection with study start
Exit evaluation
Exit evaluations are sent to students at the end of their programme and focus on their overall experience of the programme.
Questions may include:
- academic outcomes
- level of information
- administration
- study environment
- academic quality and coherence between courses
At CBS, exit evaluations are conducted within continuing and executive education.
Graduate evaluation
The Ministry of Higher Education and Science (UFM) conducts "the Danish Study Survey" every two years, which includes a graduate section targeted at master graduates.
Graduate evaluations are sent to students after they have graduated and typically focus on their overall experience of the programme and its applicability and relevance in the labour market.

Learning Environment Investigation (Panel content)
Attractive and modern study environments
It is CBS’ clear objective to offer attractive and modern study environments that support students’ wellbeing and learning. That is why we conduct a teaching environment assessment (UMV) every three years.
CBS’ official status on the teaching environment
The UMV is CBS’ official evaluation of the the teaching environment – including an assessment of the psychological, physical, social and aesthetic aspects.
The report outlines the study environment at CBS and describes how we address any challenges or issues.
A significant part of the UMV is based on results from the Danish Study Survey, conducted every two years by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, as well as CBS’ own annual evaluations.
The objective
The objective of the UMV is to contribute to optimising the conditions for students’ wellbeing and learning.
