Your exams and exam administrator
After allocation, you will get access to Digital Exam which is CBS’ digital exam portal.
Here you can see your exams and the name of your exam administrator.
You are always welcome to contact your exam administrator if you have any questions.

Use of generative AI at CBS
From the academic year 2025/2026, the use of generative AI (GenAI) is permitted in all exams and final projects in mandatory courses as well as mandatory courses offered as electives.
Gen AI is not permitted in written sit-in exams and elective courses.
From the academic year 2026/2027, the use of Gen AI will also be permitted in elective courses.
At the same time, there is room for academic assessment. If it is assessed that the use of Gen AI does not support the learning objectives of the course, the course coordinator can exclude the use of Gen AI by clearly stating this in the course description.

Assessment notes
Notes used for assessment must be kept for at least one year due to the right to appeal and re-take exams.
Notes containing personal data must subsequently be destroyed.

Reporting of external examiners
It is important that you submit an electronic report so that we can continuously improve the conditions around exams.
For your information, you will be evaluated by the examiner.
Grading
Grading must be done in Digital Exam (DE).
Oral exams
For oral exams, the grade must be reported immediately after the examination.
Written exam
For written exams, grades can be reported on an ongoing basis. The grades will only be visible to students once both the examiner and the external examiner have entered and reported the same grade.

Borrow a computer
There is only limited opportunity to borrow a computer at CBS.
How to borrow a computer at CBS
No later than three days before the exam, you must inform your exam administrator that you want to borrow a computer so that it can be reserved for you.
The exam administrator will email the information to the Campus Desk.
You must collect the computer from the Campus Desk at Dalgas Have or Solbjerg Plads, no earlier than 07.45 on the day of the exam.
After the exam, you must return the computer to the same Campus Desk at Solbjerg Plads or Dalgas Have, no later than 20.00.
If the exam takes place over several days, the above procedure applies each day.
Borrowing rules
The loan applies to one day at a time.
The computer must not leave CBS. It is pre-connected to the guest network.
Oral exams
Exam plan in Digital Exam
You can find the plan for your oral exam in Digital Exam. This is also where you will find the date, time and room for your exam.
How to find the plan
- When you log in to Digital Exam – eksamen.cbs.dk, you will be on the page “My exams”. On this page, you can see an overview of all your exams by clicking “Exam schedule”.
- To view the schedule for a specific exam, first click on the exam itself and then select “Exam schedule” on the right-hand side of the screen.
- For oral exams on campus, students are asked to arrive at the start of the exam if they have a morning time slot, or at 11:00 if they have an afternoon time slot.
- For oral exams based on a written assignment, students must arrive 2 hours before their scheduled exam time.
Parking
If you want to park your car free of charge in CBS’ parking spaces, you must have a parking permit.

Plagiarism/cheating
If you suspect plagiarism and/or cheating at exams, you must inform the examiner, who must then report it to CBS Legal.

Illness
If you are ill and prevented from participating, you must notify the exam administrator, preferably also to the examiner, as quickly as possible .

Catering (Panel content)
Catering for oral exams
When you are an external examiner at an oral exam at CBS, you are entitled to catering of the following value, which can be used at Jespers Torvekøkken:
- 60 DKK for 1–2 hours
- 120 DKK for more than 2–4 hours
- 180 DKK for more than 4–8 hours
How to get catering
You will receive an email from Jespers Torvekøkken (CBS’ canteen) with a requisition for each day you are an external examiner, no later than the day before the exam. You can choose to print it or keep it on your mobile phone.
You can then collect your catering at Jespers Torvekøkken in the building where the exam takes place.
Exams at Peter Bangs Vej
If you have an exam at Peter Bangs Vej 36, you must collect your catering at H.V. Nyholms Vej 21.
Catering for thesis defences
You and the examiner will each receive an email from Jespers Torvekøkken (CBS’ canteen) with a requisition for coffee.
Thesis defences at Peter Bangs Vej
You can freely collect coffee in the kitchen at Peter Bangs Vej 36, 1st floor.
If you have more than 2 thesis defences in one day, you will receive an email with a lunch requisition from Jespers Torvekøkken (CBS’ canteens), which you can use in the canteen at H.V. Nyholms Vej 21, 2000 Frederiksberg.
Transport (Panel content)
Consider your transportation
You are required to follow the state rules for travel expenses. You must choose public transport where possible (train, bus, metro).
Transport expenses that can be reimbursed are:
- Trains and other forms of public transport
- Ferries
- Flights: must be approved by the exam administrator before you buy your tickets
- Travels by private car / bridge tolls: you must assess yourself whether or not it can be reimbursed based on the state rules for travel expenses
- Taxi expenses: are only accepted to a very limited extent. If special circumstances justify the use of a taxi, you must attach a written explanation.
Travel expenses and reimbursement
You can only be reimbursed for travels within Denmark, the northern most part of Germany and the Øresund region. Transport expenses are reimbursed only upon documentation.
You are not compensated for the hours included in your travels.
If you want to travel by plane, it must be approved by the exam administrator BEFORE you buy the tickets.

Travel by private car
You may use your own private car if this is considered the most practical and economical solution overall.
You can get mileage reimbursement according to the state’s lower rate.
Parking
If you want to park your car free of charge in CBS’ car parks you will need a parking permit.
To obtain a guest parking permit you must send an email to Information Services on email: information@cbs.dk with the following information:
- External examiner
- Your name
- Registration number/licence plate of the car you wish to park
- Your mobile number
- Period/date
- The CBS study programme for which you will be an external examiner
- Administrative exam contact person
You will then receive the permit by SMS. Parking attendants check your licence plate, so you do not need to place anything in the windscreen. It is your own responsibility to check that the information in the SMS from CBS is correct.

Please note:
- External examiners and guests at CBS may only park at street level.
- CBS does not have street-level parking at Finsensvej. The nearest CBS parking spaces are at H.V. Nyholmsvej 21.
- CBS cannot guarantee the availability of a parking space, even if a guest parking permit for CBS parking spaces has been issued.

Accommodation
You may be eligible for accommodation within the hotel allowance limit and by documentation if:
- your travel distance makes it impossible for you to get to CBS from the morning on the exam day OR
- your exam is scheduled over several days AND
- your hotel has a CBS agreement or a SKI agreement
- your room is a standard room (economy class)
You must get an approval from your exam administrator before you can book a accomodation.
Available amount
The hotel allowance is 1,844.00 DKK including VAT, as of 1 January 2026.

Hourly and daily allowances
For travels where accommodation is necessary, hourly and daily allowances are paid to cover expenses such as meals and local transportation. Any meals paid by CBS or included in the hotel stay must be stated and will be deducted from the hourly and daily allowances according to the applicable state rates.

Hotel booking within CBS-agreement
Hotels with a CBS agreement is paid via EAN number.
You must book the room yourself which must be a standard room. When booking a hotel room, you must provide the following information for the hotel invoice:
- the booking is under a CBS agreement
- that you are an external examiner
- your name
- period/date
- which study programme the exam concerns
- your reference at CBS is (exam administrator), including name and phone number
Available amount
The hotel allowance is 1,844.00 DKK including VAT as of 1 January 2026.

If there are no available rooms at the hotels with which CBS has agreements, you may book another hotel, provided it is within the standard price range (standard room/economy class).
Hotel booking within SKI-agreement
If there are no available rooms at the hotels with which CBS has agreements, you may book another hotel with the so-called SKI-agreement (Statens og Kommunernes Indkøbsservice).
You must pay up front yourself, and get the payment reimbursed subsequently.
When booking a hotel room, you must provide the following information for the hotel invoice:
- that the booking is under a CBS SKI agreement
- external examiner
- your name
- period/date
- which study programme the exam concerns
- who your reference at CBS is (exam administrator) including name and phone number

You may also choose to stay with family or friends. No reimbursement will be provided in this case.

Written sit-in exams
- 2-hour written sit-in exam: 0.25
- 3-hour written sit-in exam: 0.29
- 4-hour written sit-in exam: 0.33
Written home assignments
Written home assignments include essays, synopses, reports and the like.
The standard rate per page is: 0.064
That means e.g. that the rate for reading is:
- Written assignment - 5 pages: 0.32
- Written assignment - 10 pages: 0.64
- Written assignment - 15 pages: 0.96
Oral exams on campus - individual
- 20-minute oral on-campus exam: 0.33
- 30-minute oral on-campus exam: 0.50
Oral exams on campus - in groups
For oral exams on campus in groups the total duration may vary from study programme to study programme

Bachelor projects
The rates for reading bachelor projects is:
- 1 student - 40 pages: 2.56
- 2 students - 60 pages: 3.84
- 3 students - 70 pages: 4.48
- 4+ students - 80 pages: 5.12
The duration of the oral defence for the bachelor project may vary from study programme to study programme.

Master theses
The rates for reading master theses is:
- 1 student - 1 thesis: 5.85
- 2 students- 1 thesis: 8,9
- 3 students - 1 thesis: 11.74

Payment and reimbursement (Panel content)
Salary payment for exam activities
Your are paid based on the exams you have been involved in during the exam period. You are not paid for assignments that are completely blank, where no attempt has been made, or in cases non-attendance.
After the exam you will receive an email from CBS’ salary payment system LONCEN.
The email contains information about payment:
- for written exams: the settlement has been sent directly for salary processing and you do not need to take any action
- for oral exams: the settlement is pending your completion and approval before you receive payment

Travel expences and reimbursement
You can be reimbursed for travels within Denmark, northern Germany and the Øresund region. Transport costs are only reimbursed against documentation
You will not be reimbursed for the hours included in the travel time.
When we receive travel expense claims, we assess the chosen modes of transport and your point of departure into account.
Reimbursement in LONCEN
You must enter your travel expenses in CBS’ salary system LONCEN and upload documentation as specified.
The deadline for completing and approving is no later than 14 days after the exam.

Hourly and daily allowances
If the external examiner assignment, including transport, extends beyond 24 hours, you may receive a hourly or daily allowances in accordance with the applicable rules.
No hourly or daily allowance is paid for travels lasting less than 24 hours.
What does the hourly or daily allowance cover?
Daily allowances are paid for each full 24-hour period that an official trip lasts. For any additional hours, an hourly allowance is paid for each commenced hour.
The rate of the hourly or daily allowance is set out in the Circular on Rates for official travel reimbursements of 1 January 2026 (in Danish)
If you receive free meals in connection with your official trip, the hourly and daily allowances will be reduced.
Meals are calculated as the following percentage of the hourly or daily rate:
- Breakfast: 15%
- Lunch: 30%
- Dinner: 30%
This means, for example, that if breakfast is included in the price of the accommodation, the hourly and daily allowances will be reduced by 15% of the daily allowance rate.
Remuneration for students’ preparation time
For oral exams with preparation time, you are paid for the waiting time that occurs in connection with the first student’s preparation.
The remuneration corresponds to the rate for one oral examination, regardless of whether the preparation time is shorter or longer than the oral exam.
Please note that this only applies to ordinary oral exams and not to final projects such as bachelor projects or master theses.
Minimum remuneration for oral exams
For oral exams, you are paid for a minimum of one hour.
This means that if an oral exam lasts 20 minutes, you will paid for three examinees, if only one student attends. If an oral examination lasts 30 minutes, you will be paid two examinees, even if only one student attends.
Please note that minimum remuneration only applies to rordinary oral exams and not to final projects such as bachelor projects or master theses

Become an external examiner at CBS
If you want to be an external examiner at CBS, you must be appointed through one of the external examiner corps used by CBS.
CBS’ external examiner corps
CBS uses the following external examiner corps:
- De Erhvervsøkonomiske Censorkorps: used for bachelor, master and executive master programmes within the field of business administration as well as Diploma Programme (HD).
- Censorkorpset for Statskundskab/Samfundsfag: used for the Master in Public Governance (MPG).
- Censorkorpset for Erhvervskommunikation, sprog og medier: used for cand.ling.merc / MA in International Business Communication
- Censorkorpset for Økonomi: used for MSc in Economics and Finance (cand.oecon).
