Course content

Managing change in global organizations is the core theme within this course, which aims at providing a broad understanding of the key challenges organizations have to grapple with when implementing change. Areas to be explored during the course, but not limited to, may include: change management models, field level change, business model change, identity and image change, new ways of organizing, paradoxical tensions, cultural change programs and group dynamics.

 

The aims of the course are to:

  • provide students with a critical understanding of theory and practice in relation to change management within global organizations;
  • develop an appreciation of the major current themes and debates in the field of change management;
  • give students an understanding of the main concepts and models that underpin change management;
  • assess the cultural and political factors that shape change initiatives in global organizations;
  • assess the issues associated with the design and implementation of change initiatives, and their impact on employees, and;
  • provide students with an understanding of qualitative research methods to examine change in a global context.
