The Copenhagen Innovation Symposium 2010 approaches. Some very interesting participants from business and academia have already signed up. But there are still just a few seats left that we have decided to make available at a reduced price: Normal price - 350 EURO; Academic price: 200 EURO. Don’t miss this opportunity, register now!

On behalf of the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy (MPP) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), it is our pleasure to invite you to the second Copenhagen Innovation Symposium (CIS). CIS is a biannual symposium, held at the CBS campus in Copenhagen, Denmark. Its purpose is to bring together top academics and practitioners, to confront post-industrial economy innovation challenges.

This year the emphasis is on:

  • Innovation and design. How can design drive innovation?

  • Innovation and art. How can organizations learn from art and artistic processes?

  • Innovation and collective creativity. How can collective creativity be learned and utilized?

We have been successful in attracting renowned speakers, among whom are:

  • Don Norman: Don hardly needs introduction in the design world. This former Apple vice-president and co-founder (with Jakob Nielsen) of Nielsen and Norman Group, is, according to Business Week, among the world's 27 most influential designers. Don is the author of a number of books on design, among which is the classic: The Design of Everyday Things (1988). His last publication is just on the shelves: Living with Complexity (2010). Don recently caused an uproar in the design world, with his assertion that when it comes to radical innovation, design research is "essentially useless", referring primarily to human centered design and ethnographic studies intended to discover human needs.

  • Robert Austin - Professor at Harvard Business School and CBS, who has contributed extensively to the discourse on the relationship between innovation, art and aesthetics, through his books and articles.

  • Martin Ertl - Chief Innovation Officer at Bombardier, who recently completed the YouRail project, using the Internet to gather design suggestions from more than 1000 designers around the world.

  • Pierre Guillet de Monthoux - Head of the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy (MPP) at CBS, and author of The Art Firm: Aesthetic Management and Metaphysical Marketing from Wagner to Wilson, 2004.

  • Esben Pedersen - Sales and Marketing Director at Tesla Motors, a company founded in 2003 by a group of intrepid Silicon Valley engineers who set out to prove that electric vehicles could be awesome.

  • Roberto Verganti - Professor of Management of Innovation at Politecnico di Milano in Italy and author of Design Driven Innovation published by Harvard Business Press in 2009.

  • Søren Wissing - Project Developer of the ambitious Design City Kolding project, which aims to design and build a new ecological, ergonomic and innovative marine district by the sea in the city of Kolding, Denmark.

CIS is a platform for meaningful and open discussions, with active participation of attendees. Each session combines an opening presentation with panel and plenary discussions. To maintain a high level of interactivity, we limit the number of attendees to approximately 60. Therefore, please register as soon as you can.

The Registration fee is 600€ for business participants and 300€ for academics. Included in this fee are coffee and refreshments, two lunches, and an evening dinner.

You are also welcome to contact Hallur Sigurdarson, our project manager, at hsi.lpf@cbs.dk.

Best regards,

Daniel Hjorth
