What is Workspace?

Workspace from LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is an advanced financial data and analytics platform that provides access to real-time market data, economic indicators, ESG information, company analysis and macroeconomic reports from across the world.

What you can find in Workspace

  • Company data and financial information on listed firms, including ESG
  • Up-to-date data for traded financial instruments (equities, warrants, options, futures, indices etc.)
  • News
  • Economic data
  • Commodity prices
  • Exchange rates
  • Interest rates

Excel add-in: You can export data from Workspace using an Excel add-in.

How Workspace and Datastream are connected

Workspace includes extensive historical macroeconomic and financial data going back to the 1950s. These data originate from the Datastream database, which you can access directly within Workspace. In some areas Datastream is also integrated into Workspace, giving you access to Datastream’s charting and analytics tools.

Workspace provides real-time information and interactive analytics, while Datastream provides long-term data on equities, macroeconomics, interest rates, currencies, commodities and indices.

When is Workspace useful?

Workspace has a user-friendly interface and includes not only numbers and statistics but also news and reports. It offers many of the same features as a Bloomberg terminal.

Examples of use:

  • Analyse companies, markets and sectors using up-to-date data and graphs
  • Find annual reports
  • Retrieve key figures and historical data for financial and economic analyses
  • Explore ESG factors, stock markets and global trends

Lo­gin pro­ced­ure – be pa­tient

  1. Log in to the computer with your CBS login
  2. Click the LSEG Workspace icon
  3. The remote desktop opens
  4. On the remote desktop, click the LSEG Workspace icon again
  5. Once Workspace has started, you can open Microsoft Excel

Datastream Formula is located under the Workspace tab.
