What is SSRN?

SSRN (Social Science Research Network) is a global open access platform run by Elsevier and used by researchers worldwide to share new research before it is published in journals. The platform supports the development and communication of research across disciplines, from social sciences and economics to health sciences, humanities and natural sciences.

Individual researchers, research institutions and departments can upload open access preprints and research articles. SSRN organises the material into specialised research networks, so-called micro communities.

Research networks

You can explore each network under Browse. Within Social Sciences, you will find, among others, The Accounting Network, Corporate Governance Network, The Economics Research Network, Financial Economics Network and The Management Research Network.

When is SSRN useful?

SSRN’s strength is fast access to current ideas, theories and data, often long before they are formally published.

SSRN is especially useful when you:

  • want the newest research and trends within business, economy and society
  • look for working papers and preprints that are not available in traditional databases
  • need inspiration for theory, method or data in assignments and projects
  • want to follow specific researchers or institutions and their latest publications
