What is Social Science Citation Index?

Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) lets you search for articles from recognised journals within the social sciences such as economics, business and sociology. All journals in SSCI are selected by an editorial board that ensures the content meets high academic standards.

You can see which researchers and articles are most frequently cited. This makes SSCI an obvious tool when you want to investigate how research influences and inspires others.

SSCI is part of Web of Science. In Web of Science, you can search across several citation databases at once and broaden your search to include more subject areas.

When is Social Science Citation Index useful?

SSCI can help you identify the most cited and influential research within a field.

Use it when you want to:

  • carry out a citation analysis of researchers or articles
  • find highly cited articles within the social sciences
  • see who cites whom
