What is Morningstar Direct?

Morningstar Direct is a professional financial analysis platform that provides access to in-depth data on investment funds, equities, ETFs and investment companies. It also includes access to ESG data at fund and company level.

ESG data

Morningstar Direct contains extensive ESG data (Environmental, Social, Governance), which enables analyses of the sustainability profile of investments. You can view ESG scores, carbon footprints, controversy levels and assessments from Morningstar Sustainalytics. This makes the platform ideal for sustainable investment analysis, reporting and comparisons of funds.

Data on funds

Morningstar Direct provides detailed information on investment funds, ETFs and portfolios, including returns, risk, costs, holdings and ratings. You can compare funds, analyse historical performance, track fund managers’ results and assess fund strategy and composition. This makes the system a central tool for both fund analysis and portfolio management.

Excel Add-in 

With the Morningstar Direct Excel Add-in, you can retrieve different types of data into Excel for calculation, formatting or analysis.

Access to Morningstar Direct with patience

You can only use Morningstar Direct on the PCs in the CBS Library Data Lab. They are located on the first floor of the library at Solbjerg Plads.

1. Log in to the PC with your CBS username and password
2. Click the Morningstar icon on the desktop
3. Wait while a new virtual desktop opens
4. Then click the Morningstar icon again to gain access

Be patient. It may take a little while before the database is ready for use.
