What is Keenious?

Keenious is a discovery tool like the EBSCO databases, Libsearch, and Scopus. But unlike these, all you need to get started with Keenious is a piece of prose. No need for keywords or Boolean operators, just prose.

You can use Keenious throughout your entire search process. From the very beginning, when you need inspiration for a topic or ideas for how to approach a subject you have already chosen, to the later stages where you need help identifying relevant scientific articles or handling ambiguity within complex areas that are difficult to express as precise subject terms.

• Keenious analyses more than 100 million research articles from OpenAlex, a large and open catalogue of scholarly articles, authors and organisations.
• Keenious can be used through your web browser or integrated into Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
• Keenious does not store any text prompts, so your input data is completely safe.

How it works

Keenious offers an intuitive interface and is a good place to kick-start your search. You do not need much prior knowledge to begin – simply enter your prompt and Keenious will find relevant content. A prompt can be an abstract from an article you already consider relevant, or something you have written yourself, such as a synopsis or a quick brainstorm.

An alternative to traditional search tools

Because Keenious works very differently from classic search tools, relying on coherent prose rather than isolated subject terms, it provides an alternative route to valuable information you might otherwise overlook or never find in traditional searches.
