What can you find in Folketingstidende?

On folketingstidende.dk, you can find bills, proposals for parliamentary decisions, questions for ministers, reports and § 20-questions along with the documents linked to these cases.

You can also find the transcripts of parliamentary debates, which are published as the speeches are delivered in the Parliamentary Chamber.

Folketingstidende is now fully digital and available from 1953 to the present.

Two ways into Folketingstidende

  • Folketingstidende siden 1953-d.d.: access to parliamentary documents since 1953 with quick search, cross-volume and cross-year searching and more.

  • e-Folketingstidende: all volumes of Folketingstidende from 1953 to 2008–09 and Rigsdagstidende from 1849–50 to 1953. Here, you cannot search across volumes or years. You can browse electronic volumes, print or download individual pages, search each volume and look up a specific page or column. Select the year in the dropdown menu.

Nice to know

Folketingstidende ceased print publication in 2009. Since the 2009–10 parliamentary year, documents corresponding to the printed edition have been published on Folketingstidende.dk. This means that Folketingstidende.dk is now the authentic or “original” version.

When is Folketingstidende useful?

  • When you need to verify how a law was created, especially when you want to find and understand the political discussions, intentions and arguments behind a law.
  • When you examine a bill, you can find debates, comments and the legislative process.
  • When you need authoritative quotations or statements from politicians, you can find all speeches from plenary sessions reproduced verbatim.
  • When you need to document legislative history, as each law has a unique bill number (L), which makes it possible to trace all related interventions and readings.
