What is EUR-lex

EUR-Lex is the EU’s official legal database. It brings together all EU legislation and related documents in one place and it provides free access to treaties, regulations, directives, judgments, proposals, decisions and legislative procedures in all the EU’s official languages.

What can you find in EUR-lex?

EU-lovgivning, retspraksis og andre juridiske dokumenter, der hovedsagelig kommer fra EU-institutionerne:

  • reaties
  • Legal acts from EU institutions
  • Preparatory documents related to EU legislation
  • EU case law
  • International agreements
  • EFTA documents
  • References to national implementation measures and case law related to EU law

You can also find a detailed overview of the different document types available on EUR-Lex.

Looking for the Official Journal?

EUR-Lex publishes the official version of the Official Journal of the European Union.

Titles and references appear the same day new documents are released. Full texts and bibliographic details usually follow within two working days, so there may be a short delay between publication in the Official Journal and full access on EUR-Lex.

When is EUR-Lex useful?

EUR-Lex is especially useful for students who need to:

  • Find authentic and up-to-date EU laws, regulations and directives
  • Follow the legislative process from proposal to adoption
  • Read summaries of EU legislation written in clear and accessible language
  • Access the Official Journal, where all new legal acts are published

Use EUR-Lex as a reliable source for assignments, projects or research on the EU and European law.
