What can you find in EU-Karnov?

EU-Karnov giver et samlet overblik over EU-retten og dens samspil med dansk ret. 
Den er særligt nyttig, når du arbejder med områder, hvor EU-regler har betydning i en dansk kontekst.

EU-Karnov provides an overview of EU law and its interaction with Danish law. It is particularly useful when working with areas where EU rules have an impact in a Danish context.

EU-Karnov is divided into two main sections:

TEU (Treaty on the European Union) includes:

  • Commented texts of the EU Treaty and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
  • The fundamental principles and values on which the EU is based

TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) includes:

  • Commented versions of the TFEU, with references to relevant case law and interpretations
  • Introductory sections for each legal area explaining key provisions and their significance
  • Selected directives and regulations within a wide range of areas such as labour law, environmental law, tax and duties, energy, transport, and consumer protection
  • Practical and detailed provisions on how the EU operates in practice

In the search box within the EU-Karnov module, you can choose to search specifically within the module’s own content (EU).

When is EU-Karnov useful?

When you work with TEU or TFEU, you can use the commented versions in EU-Karnov to understand:

  • What the provisions mean in practice
  • How they have been interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union
  • How they relate to Danish law

If you are writing about a specific topic, such as environmental law or consumer protection, you can find:

  • The most important EU legal acts in the area
  • Danish implementations and interpretations
  • References to relevant case law

If you need an overview, EU-Karnov contains introductions to each area of law explaining:

  • What the area covers
  • Which rules apply
  • How EU and Danish law interact

EU-Karnov is part of Karnov

In addition to EU-Karnov, Karnov also includes Karnov Law, UfR Online, Tax & Accounting, and Public Procurement Law Online. You can search across all modules or choose to search within one module only. The menu on the left-hand side shows all the content available in Karnov.

Us­ing Karnov doc­u­ments in teach­ing

An agreement with Karnov Group has made it possible to use materials in PDF format for teaching purposes.
