About the event

In this talk, PhD Fellow Helga Askgaard Estrup from the Department of Management, Society and Communication will discuss the growing geopolitical tensions surrounding 'critical' minerals and what they mean for renewable energy companies.

Renewable energy technologies require large amounts of metals and minerals, including copper, cobalt and rare earth elements. At the same time, other sectors such as tech and defense are dependent on the same resources. These industries' high demand has prompted the European Union, among other states, to secure access to the sought-after 'critical' minerals - and increased the geopolitical tensions in the minerals market.

Helga Askgaard Estrup will explore the geopolitical aspects of 'critical' minerals, why metals and minerals are essential to renewable energy, and how the geopolitical race for minerals challenges renewable energy companies’ efforts to secure resilient and responsible minerals supply chains.

This event is a part of CBS Library and Academic Services' celebration of CBS research and it contributes to the CBS research dissemination efforts. The event is free of charge and you do not need to register.
