Ten­ure Track As­sist­ant Pro­fess­or­ships in Strategy and In­nov­a­tion 2027

The Department of Strategy and Innovation (SI) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applications for tenure track assistant professors in the areas of strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and international business. The tentative starting date is September 1, 2027.

Copenhagen Business School has the status of an independent university with more than 20,000 students and about 450 full-time faculty (assistant/associate/full professors). CBS is thus one of the largest business schools in Europe, covering a wide range of business-related academic fields.

The Department of Strategy and Innovation is one of 11 departments within CBS. The department employs about 45 faculty members, including 20 professors, 15 associate professors, and 10 assistant professors. Moreover, it has about 15 postdocs and 15 PhD students. The department’s research is generally cross-disciplinary with a strong element of quantitative methods. Faculty members have published in top academic journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, Journal of International Business Studies, and Research Policy, among others. Faculty members teach at the bachelor's and master’s level, in part-time study programs as well as in MBA, Executive MBA and PhD programs.

The vacant assistant professorship is a six-year tenure-track position with research and teaching obligations. Promotion to tenured associate professor depends on satisfactory research and teaching performance as well as good academic citizenship. Faculty members are expected to be physically present at the department on a regular basis and to actively participate in the activities of the department, such as research seminars, workshops, and conferences.

• Attraction of external funding

To be considered for the position, applicants must hold a PhD degree or have equivalent qualifications at the time of appointment. Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research potential, which means that a researcher with a large research potential may be preferred to a researcher with a large research production. The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organization.

Recruitment procedure:

• The Recruitment Committee will shortlist a minimum of two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.
• The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and, later in the process, about the result of the assessment.
• Once the recruitment process is completed, each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
