Successful innovation depends on a structured analysis. You will learn to identify innovative ideas, develop strategies in different business settings and how to put innovation on the overall strategy agenda of a company.
You will learn to identify all the different aspects of innovation: The relation to the value proposition, user needs, response from competitors.
You will gain knowledge on how the innovation process has shifted from a closed to an open process, now involving many different stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, or universities.

Managing innovation and business development projects
You will learn to manage innovation and business development projects, to draw up budgets and to draft and assess business plans. Useful if you want to design your own project – but also when you want to assess the quality of other projects.
The finances of innovation projects
You will also learn about the core aspects of financial management and control in relation to innovation projects. You will learn how to forecast a company’s product innovation needs to secure future revenue opportunities. To do so, you’ll learn to understand business organisation, tools of project management and financial control.
Innovation in start-ups
This programme will not only focus on innovation in well-established companies, but also as part of the establishment of startup companies. You’ll learn to recognize entrepreneurial opportunities, the fundamentals of new venture creation, the characteristics of a successful founding team, and the hiring of key employees, as well as entrepreneurial finance.

You learn how to turn ideas into action and how innovation and entrepreneurship create growth and value. Innovation and entrepreneurship in Management of Innovation and Business Development focus on developing and managing new business opportunities within both established organisations and start-ups.
Organisation and management
You learn how leadership, collaboration, and organisational design support innovation and change. Organisation and management in Management of Innovation and Business Development focus on how to lead people and projects in environments where creativity and adaptability are key to success.

Analytic mindset
Love your theory
Be prepared to understand, discuss and explain the relevance of theory on innovation and business development in various contexts. Expect 40% theory comprehension and 60% application. Working in groups is an integral part of most courses the program.
