What is Oxford Reference?

In Oxford Reference you can find results ranging from short entries and general overviews to more in-depth articles on specialised topics. The collection includes dictionaries, handbooks and encyclopaedias.

Bilingual dictionaries

Oxford Reference also contains bilingual dictionaries. Click Reference Type in the top menu and select bilingual dictionaries. Switch to the Books tab to see all the dictionaries you have access to.

Timelines and quotations

In addition to dictionaries, encyclopedias and companions, Oxford Reference offers timelines organised by period and subject, giving you a quick overview of key events.

In the quotation dictionaries, you can search for quotations by people e.g. Churchill or by themes such as power and see what has been written and said.
