What is Overton?

Overton is a bibliographic database with more than 21 million references to policy documents and grey literature. Grey literature includes guidelines, reports and working papers published by governments, NGOs and IGOs.

The exciting aspect of Overton is the ability to see how research from, for example, a university appears in documents that influence policy decisions. This makes Overton a useful tool for documenting the impact that research has outside traditional academia.

The database also includes the references cited within the policy documents and allows you to search by institution, period and more. You can also export complete datasets of references.

Explore CBS’ impact

In Overton, you can search for CBS and CBS researchers and see where research from CBS is used in reports, guidelines or working papers.
