What is MSCI ESG Direct?

MSCI ESG Direct is a global database that provides detailed ESG data for thousands of companies across the world. The database is built on analyses and assessments from MSCI specialists and includes information on everything from climate risk, CO₂ emissions and resource use to working conditions, governance structures and ethical business practices.

All company, industry and thematic reports can be accessed as PDFs and/or through a data screener that allows export to Excel, TAB or CSV files.

MSCI ESG Direct is organised into two main tabs:

Industry and thematic reports

Company reports

The Companies tab is where you find the companies included in MSCI ESG Direct.

These are the reports published for individual companies.

From the Companies tab, you can:

  • download company and industry reports
  • export data to Excel
  • search for companies with specific ESG ratings
  • search for companies in specific countries or industries

Industry and thematic reports

The Publications tab is where the industry-related and thematic reports are located and can be downloaded.

The reports are divided into five categories:

  • Green Bond Index Note
  • Industry
  • Methodology
  • Thematic
  • Other
