Which courts are included?

The judgment database contains decisions handed down after its launch in early 2022. It includes judgments from all courts in Denmark – the Supreme Court, the Eastern and Western High Courts, the Maritime and Commercial High Court and the district courts. More judgments are gradually being added.

What can you search for?

Judgments in Domsdatabasen are pseudonymised. This means you cannot search for a case by entering the names of the parties. Instead, you can search by case numbers, keywords or statutory provisions in the general search field.

You can refine your search using the available filters. For example, you can limit your search to Subject Area, Case Type or Case Topic such as probate cases, insolvency and bankruptcy.

Data for research

Domsdatabasen offers API access for retrieving cases. Guidance is available on the website.

When should I use Domsdatabasen?

If you are looking for recent judgments from the Danish courts, Domsdatabasen is a good place to start. Ugeskrift for Retsvæsen publishes only a small percentage of judgments, so this initiative helps increase transparency in the work and decisions of the courts.
