Presentation and academic fields
I work at the intersection of corporate sustainability, business & human rights, global value chains and public–private partnerships (PPPs). My primary academic fields are business driven sustainable development, corporate sustainability due diligence, business and human rights due diligence (UNGPs, CSDDD, mHREDD) and global agricultural-based commodity value‑chain governance, with a particular focus on sourcing from East Africa and other Global South regions. I bring 25+ years of practitioner experience with companies, development banks, donors and NGOs into my teaching and supervision, and I am especially interested in how lead firms, investors and Public-Private collaboration (PPP) can support resilient and socially net‑positive value chains to drive lasting positive development.

Professional and/or academic experience
I have worked for more than two decades as a consultant and adviser on responsible business development, impact‑oriented PPPs and value‑chain development across Africa, Asia and Europe, as Managing Partner at Sociability. Including full time engagements as Subject Matter Expert at EFRAG, Human Rights Officer at Nordzucker, Chief Sustainability Officer for an African focused impact VC fund (Bambwa), as adviser on long-term Danida and ADB programs. I co‑initiated the EU CSR Juice Platform and have led human‑rights impact assessments, social audits and sustainability due‑diligence processes in agrifood and related sectors. I am currently developing research on “Resilient and Net‑Positive Agrifood Value Chains from East Africa: What Makes Lead Firms Commit?”, connecting political CSR, GVC research and business‑and‑human‑rights scholarship.

Pedagogical experience/method skills/supervision
At MSC I design and teach master‑level courses on making the private sector work for sustainable development, corporate sustainability, business and human rights and global value‑chain governance, and I contribute to teaching in Business Strategies in Developing Countries and Emerging Markets. I supervise master’s theses (MSC and IBP) on corporate sustainability and human rights due diligence, EU regulation (CSRD/CSDDD), agrifood value chains, PPPs and inclusive business models. I work with case‑based teaching, practitioner guest lectures and projects co‑created with companies, PPPs and NGOs, and I welcome qualitative, quantitative and mixed‑methods theses that combine strong theory with realistic data access and clear practical relevance.
