In order to obtain the PhD degree, Sofia Wiik has submitted her thesis entitled:
Translating Scope 3 Emission TargetsSocial and Material Procurement Practices in the Supply Chain
Under mounting pressure to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, companies increasingly set reduction targets that exist in a context of unreliable data and absent institutionalized practices.
Drawing on qualitative research, this dissertation explores how Scope 3 targets are translated into practices by focusing on the micro-level practices, social relationships, and socio-material dynamics that shape translation. Three articles explore how procurement managers construct meaning and pathways for action, how distributive justice perceptions shape the dissemination and reception of Scope 3 requirements, and how organizations navigate multiple versions of the emissions.
The dissertation contributes to sustainable supply chain management, sustainability accounting, and Scope 3 research by conceptualizing target translation as an emergent, practice-based process wherein ambiguity serves as a space for innovation.
The thesis will be available from research.cbs.dk |
