Illuminating Power and Responsibility in Corporations
My research focuses on how corporate governance structures shape firm characteristics, actions, and accountability. Moreover, how this impacts shareholders, stakeholders, and society at large.
I adopt a balanced approach that recognizes corporations as a cornerstone of modern welfare societies. Corporations drive value creation through innovation, produce goods and services, create employment opportunities, generate returns on invested capital, and contribute to public finances through taxation. While these benefits are often wide-ranging, they may also be unevenly distributed. Moreover, corporations have the potential to cause harm, both intentionally and unintentionally.
Through comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, my research aims to shed light on the conflicts of interest and complex tensions that arise between shareholders, stakeholders, and societal expectations, and contribute with balanced, scientifically grounded solutions that can inform policy development and, ultimately, support the creation of a robust economic and legal corporate ecosystem.
