CBS Tenure track assistant professor in Entrepreneurship and Societal Impact
Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Entrepreneurship and Societal Impact at the Department of Business Humanities and Law.
Examples of research areas that the assistant professor might cover:
- Humanistic approaches to entrepreneurship
- Collaborative entrepreneurial practices with societal impact
- Entrepreneurship in relation to grand societal challenges
- Responsible, sustainable, and inclusive entrepreneurship
- Social, cultural, and historical dimensions of entrepreneurship
The candidate will be a member of the Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership unit in the Department of Business Humanities and Law. The unit has a strong focus on the intersection of entrepreneurship, ethics, and societal impact, with particular attention to how entrepreneurial activity can contribute to addressing societal challenges. We are especially interested in candidates whose research examines entrepreneurship as a contextual, historically situated, collaborative, and impact-oriented process, including how entrepreneurs co-create knowledge, practices, and solutions with external stakeholders such as firms, public organizations, civil society actors, communities, policymakers, and international partners. Entrepreneurship and societal impact encompass not only ethical questions, but also broader issues concerning how entrepreneurship unfolds within historical, political, cultural, and societal contexts. The ideal candidate should therefore demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurship in context, drawing on relevant social science and humanistic disciplines such as history, sociology, philosophy, ethnography, political science, and related fields.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching in entrepreneurship that connects academic knowledge with practice. The candidate should help identify how to link academic research with CBS’ innovation capacity and visible contributions to society. This includes documented experience with research-based and student-centred teaching activities in collaboration with practice partners, such as entrepreneurs, companies, public institutions, NGOs, community organizations, and other external stakeholders. Through such engagement, the candidate should help students understand entrepreneurship as a socially and historically embedded practice and equip them to work critically and constructively with innovation and societal impact.
