Course content

Modern businesses depend on IT for almost all aspects of their operation. Systems analysis and design aims to identify new or modify existing IT business needs and solutions. It is a complex undertaking that requires both IT and business knowledge and skills.

            This course provides students with a business background with the concepts, knowledge and skills required to analyse and design information systems. It concentrates on the early systems development activities and outcomes, i.e., needs analysis and requirements specification as well as alternative choices for analysis and design processes, e.g., agile and waterfall.

            The course does not advocate a specific approach to systems analysis and design but introduces different processes, techniques, and notations suitable for various situations and context. Thus, an important goal of the course is to enable the students to make informed choices when planning, managing, and executing a systems analysis and design project.
