Unlocking fair pricing and control in innovation and supply chains

Sof Thrane conducts research in management accounting, with a particular focus on how managerial technologies shape organizational processes, strategies, and development. This research agenda has led to a range of interdisciplinary studies spanning management accounting, Supply Chain Management, and innovation. His primary research area is pricing management, examining both the control and value dimensions of pricing, addressing topics such as pricing fairness, the design of pricing control systems, and management of customer value. Current research interests include the digitalization of pricing and the construction of accountability in risk management. 

His research has been published in leading international journals, including Accounting, Auditing & Accountability journal, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Management Accounting Research, Scandinavian Journal of Management, and Research Policy.

In addition to his research, Sof Thrane has made significant contributions to the strategic development of Copenhagen Business School (CBS). As Director of the PhD School, he led the establishment of the PhD School in Business and Management. As Head of Studies, he was responsible for developing the Executive Master of Business Development (MBD) program. He also served on the steering committee responsible for developing the Nordic Nine graduate capabilities framework. As a member of the core Academic Development team (the predecessor of Teaching & Learning), he contributed to the development of educational practices across CBS.

Sofs teaching philosophy is grounded in a pragmatism and he therefore focuses on facilitating learning processes that actively use and develop concepts, models, and tools.
