Seyda Bag­dogan

I started my university education with Mathematics and did a minor in Urban Sociology alongside. Later, I got my second bachelor's degree in Anthropology. As a graduate student in Global Studies at Lund University, I wrote my thesis about Turkish housewives knitting on YouTube. This study showed how Internet use at home gave them a possibility to improve themselves in terms of economic and socio-cultural aspects through their traditional skills while enabling them to transcend spatial boundaries.

During my PhD study at MSC, in connection with the digital transformations in the Global South, I aim to look at how digital platforms possibly empower women. In particular, how Turkish housewives transfer their domestic labour into digital media and build their social network will be the main focus of my research.
