How AI and digital platforms shape what we see and trust

Recommendation algorithms and generative AI now shape much of what we see, believe and trust online. I study how these systems change people’s access to reliable information, and whether some groups lose out.

I am a PhD fellow in the Technology and Society cluster. I combine computational methods, such as platform audits and large-scale data, with experiments, and link my findings to platform design, business models and regulation.

My research helps:

  • policymakers check whether rules for platforms and AI work in practice
  • the public understand how algorithms and AI filter what they see
  • uncover who gets less reliable information, and why

My background spans engineering, data science and the social sciences. I hold a BSc in Industrial Engineering, an MSc in Data Science from Sapienza University of Rome and an MSc in Management Science and Economics from UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management.
