Primary research areas

Entrepreneurship and Development

I am interested in the longer-term processes and outcomes of entrepreneurship and how entrepreneurial activity contributes to livelihoods, opportunity creation and broader development in emerging economies.

I am interested in the role of institutions, networks and support organisations, including universities, in influencing the paths entrepreneurs and their ventures.

Beyond venture creation: tracing the path to impact

My research interests centre on entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems and the longer-term trajectories of entrepreneurs and their ventures, with a particular interest in emerging economies. I am interested in what happens beyond venture creation: how entrepreneurial activity evolves, where entrepreneurs and their businesses end up and how this relates to broader processes of development.

My PhD research examines the role of university-based innovation hubs in shaping the entrepreneurial trajectories of female entrepreneurs in Ghana.
