Course content
Public regulation increasingly shapes the environment in which organisations operate, markets function, and tourism and hospitality services are provided. This course aims to provide students with the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to analyse the interaction between business activities in the tourism and hospitality sector and public regulation.
The course provides a number of legal parameters and tools relevant to students in the Tourism and Hospitality profile, based for the most part on rules found at the EU level. In the first half of the course, general EU internal market law, competition law, public procurement law, and data protection will be covered. In the second half, the course focuses on specific business areas and regulatory issues relevant to the tourism and hospitality sector, examining the constraints and opportunities these create for organisations and service activities.
The relationship between theory and practice is developed by applying the knowledge provided in the course to specific cases involving real organisations, sectors, or regulatory settings. Through its learning activities and assessments, the course enhances competencies in problem-solving, teamwork, written and oral presentation, coordination of project activities, and the application of knowledge in practice.
