Economics and Modeling of Energy Systems

Jens Weibezahn is Assistant Professor at the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS).

His research explores the transformation of energy systems through infrastructure planning and market design, with particular emphasis on flexibility options, sector integration, and decentralization. Methodologically, his work combines open-source energy system modeling with financial and economic analysis to support the development of resilient, efficient, and low-carbon energy systems. He has participated in and led several research projects on the national, Nordic, and European level.

A former Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow, he holds a PhD in Economics from Technische Universität Berlin, where he also completed his habilitation in Energy Economics and Modeling. Prior to joining CBS, he served as Research Associate at TU Berlin’s Workgroup for Infrastructure Policy (WIP), where he continues to be affiliated as a Guest Researcher. He studied Industrial Engineering and Management with a focus on energy and transportation infrastructure at TU Berlin and the University of California, Berkeley.
