Top­ic: Eth­no­graph­ic ac­counts of Money, Debt, and Polit­ics

The seminar will have presenters working at the intersection of economic sociology and urban ethnography based in Argentina and Brazil. Ariel Wilkis (UNSAM – Buenos Aires) will speak about his forthcoming book How Finance Shape Democracy: Household debt as political and moral test in Argentina and Gustavo Prieto (Federal University of Sao Paulo) and Elisa Verdi (Federal University of Sao Paulo) will present their work in progress “Criminal Urbanization: Land, Housing and Everyday Life in Brazil”.
