Peter Bogetoft, cand.scient.oecon., dr.merc., Professor in Applied Microeconomics, was knighted with the Order of Dannebrog (Ridder af Dannebrogordenen) on August 22, 2023.

The Order of Dannebrog is a means of honoring and rewarding the faithful servants of the modern Danish state for meritorious civil or military service, for a particular contribution to the arts, sciences or business life or for those working for Danish interests.

Peter Bogetoft has been a full professor in business economics and microeconomics at KVL, KU, and CBS for 28 years. He has also been affiliated with Yale University for extended periods.

He has published more than 100 scientific articles, including many in top-tier journals, and has written 7 books. He has taught at all levels, mentored over 20 PhD students, received teaching awards, and led various educational programs. He has also managed a range of other academic and administrative tasks. Peter Bogetoft has received considerable external fundings from private companies, foundations, and research councils.

Peter Bogetoft's research is distinguished by the rapid application of his methods, models, and results in businesses and public authorities. His methods for benchmarking and regulating utility companies are used to manage various electricity, gas, and water companies across European countries. His ideas on interactive benchmarking have been implemented in various industry organizations and grant-supported projects. His methods for calculating and splitting merger gains have been applied by regulators. His theoretical work on agency models has supported contract design in agriculture and has been used by tax authorities in various countries to assess transfer pricing issues. His collaboration with cryptographers has led to the world's first large-scale encrypted auction, later used in frequency auctions and electricity trading. He has co-founded several successful research spin-off companies, including "Partisia," which combines economic mechanism design with encrypted computations.
