CBS Assistant Professor Arna Vardardottir has received a grant of app. 2 million Danish kroner from the Danish Council for Independent Research. The project contributes to the academic and political discussions on how households’ consumption reacts to income arrival and the whether the source of the income matters for how it is spent. The answers to these questions are crucial when modeling consumption, investments and savings choices of households, and a central component in designing public policies. Her findings will, e.g., identify those public cash transfers that are most effective in stimulating the economy during downturns and in enhancing children's welfare by directing consumption towards children's goods.
