Green Am­bas­sad­ors Drive Sustain­ability En­gage­ment Across CBS

CBS is committed to accelerating the green transition, not only through research and teaching, but by empowering students to take an active role in shaping a more sustainable campus culture. 

Each year, a group of dedicated students from across CBS study programmes come together to promote climate awareness, biodiversity literacy, and community engagement through events, workshops, and peer‑to‑peer outreach. Their main focus is making sustainability visible and accessible on campus. Their work strengthens CBS’s sustainability ambitions, and in return, CBS provides them with the skills, networks, and opportunities to grow as future sustainability leaders. 

This year’s activities, from the WAFA Case Competition to the Climate Literacy Workshop and the monthly Green Breakfast Club, show how student engagement can strengthen CBS’s green transition. For the ambassadors, these initiatives offer a chance to learn, connect, and contribute. For CBS, they bring energy, ideas, and momentum. 

Beyond individual projects, the programme plays an important role in strengthening sustainability across CBS. Ambassadors help create visibility, spark conversations, and connect students with opportunities to learn about climate action, biodiversity, and systems thinking. 

Learning and Leading as a Green Ambassador 

One of this year’s ambassadors, Anna Marlena, has experienced this exchange firsthand. Over the past months, she has contributed to CBS’s sustainability efforts while deepening her own understanding of the green transition. Her current project focuses on biodiversity literacy; an area she believes deserves far more attention alongside climate change. 

A key part of Anna’s work has been engaging students in conversations about sustainability across campus. During Climate Action Day, she supported the Green Office booth and spoke with students about climate action, biodiversity, and the broader green transition. These interactions highlighted both the interest and the gaps in awareness that still exist. As she notes, sustainability is not yet consistently integrated across CBS study programmes, which underscores the continued need for initiatives that make environmental topics more visible and accessible to students. 

Green Ambassadors Strengthen Sustainability at CBS 

Anna’s experiences reflect the broader contribution that Green Ambassadors make to CBS and its sustainability ambitions. While each ambassador brings their own interests and perspectives, the programme as a whole plays a strategic role in strengthening engagement around sustainability across campus. 

Ambassadors help translate CBS’s sustainability ambitions into visible, accessible initiatives that reach students beyond formal teaching. Through their involvement in workshops, events, and collaborations with student organizations, they create entry points for students who may not otherwise encounter topics such as climate action, biodiversity, or systems thinking in their studies. This peer‑driven approach supports CBS’s efforts to build a more climate‑literate and sustainability‑aware student community. 

At the same time, the programme offers ambassadors valuable opportunities to develop their own competencies. By facilitating workshops, supporting events, and contributing to project development, ambassadors gain experience in communication, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability literacy. Many ambassadors highlight the value of working closely with the Green Office, where they receive guidance, access to networks, and insight into how sustainability is integrated at an institutional level. This combination of practical experience and professional exposure helps prepare students to engage with sustainability in their future careers, regardless of their study line. 

As the programme continues to grow, the Green Office looks forward to welcoming a new group of ambassadors in the upcoming year.
