Primary research areas

Visions of generative AI

I study how collective visions of generative AI’s promises and risks are formed and mobilised within highly regulated professional service organisations. I explore how these visions are translated into governance structures, policies, and everyday organisational practices that shape adoption.

Regulation and professional norms

I examine how national regulations, industry standards, and professional expectations enable or constrain the use and governance of new technologies in organisations, focusing on challenges related to accountability, transparency, and legitimacy.

Organisational sensemaking under uncertainty

My research investigates how organisational actors interpret and negotiate the uncertainties and complexities of new technologies, and how this sensemaking influences decision-making routines and governance practices.

Exploring how organisations shape and are shaped by new technologies

I study how organisations make sense of new technologies and how these tools become part of everyday organisational practices. My research focuses on the ways organisations interpret the promises and challenges of innovation, and how these interpretations influence their strategies and practices. I am specifically interested in the "balancing act" between the expected operational gains and the practical risks of implementation within the constraints of national regulations, industry standards, and professional expectations.

This balancing act shapes not only how technologies are adopted but also how organisational roles, responsibilities, and routines evolve. Through qualitative research methods, I explore the processes through which organisations translate broad ideas about technology into concrete practices. My work sheds light on how technological change and organisational adaptation are part of a continuous process where digital tools and organisational structures are constantly being redefined by one another.
