Primary research areas

Comparative politics and economics

Comparative politics and economics investigate how political and economic systems, and the actors operating within them vary across countries and regions, and with what effect.

Policy-making

The study of policymaking examines how governments identify problems, formulate solutions, and implement decisions through political and administrative processes.

International negotiations

The study of international negotiations examines how states and businesses interact to shape agreements on trade, regulation, and global governance.

Explaining how states and firms navigate major change

I investigate how governments and firms respond to systemic shocks such as Brexit, Covid-19, and wider geopolitical instability. My research analyses decision-making under uncertainty and explains how competing interests are aggregated into collective outcomes. These findings help to inform more resilient responses to societal challenges. I remain committed to ensuring the social relevance of my work through teaching, mentoring, and public engagement.
