Primary research areas
Economic Geography and Urban Economics
I study how people decide where to live and how those choices shape cities. My research focuses on inequality in the housing market that arises from unequal access and residential segregation. I also study commuting patterns and the economics of transportation, in particular how social background shapes commuting decisions and access to jobs.
Network Economics
Who you know shapes what you know, and often your life outcomes. I study how social and economic networks form and how information, opportunities, and influence spread through them. I am interested in peer effects, network formation, and how network position affects outcomes such as job search and wages.
Neighborhood Effects and Social Interactions
Where you live determines whom you meet. I study how residential location and segregation influence the formation of social ties, and how these local interactions affect social mobility.
I study how networks affect inequalities across places
My research examines how social networks and where people live shape inequality in economic outcomes. My research looks at housing, segregation, commuting, and neighborhood effects. The goal is to help design housing, transport, and urban policies that improve equity and access to opportunity.
