Primary research areas

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is increasingly reshaping how organizations generate knowledge, coordinate activities, and pursue innovation. My research explores how AI may alter the conditions under which new ideas, practices, and capabilities emerge, with particular attention to human–AI collaboration and organizational context.

Organizational Generativity

Organizational generativity concerns the capacity of organizations to generate, recombine, and extend new ideas, practices, and capabilities. I am interested in how organizational design, digital and data infrastructures, governance arrangements, and broader institutional conditions may enable or constrain such generative processes in the age of AI.

Digital Innovation

Digital innovation examines how digital technologies reshape innovation processes and organizational forms. My research engages with this literature to explore how AI-enabled possibilities may interact with organizational arrangements and contribute to new practices, capabilities, and forms of innovation.

How does AI reshape what organizations are capable of creating?

My research is situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence, organizational generativity, and digital innovation. I am interested in how emerging AI technologies may interact with organizational structures, practices, infrastructures, and broader institutional environments, and how these interactions may shape new possibilities for organizing and innovation.

A central part of my current research is to further develop the conceptual understanding of organizational generativity in the context of AI. This includes exploring how generativity may be understood across different levels of analysis, how it relates to adjacent concepts in organization and innovation research, and what organizational, technological, and institutional conditions may be relevant to its emergence and development.

More broadly, my work engages with questions around how AI-enabled possibilities may become embedded in organizational settings and how they may relate to digital innovation and organizational change. At this stage, I am particularly interested in identifying the conditions, relationships, and mechanisms that may help explain these emerging phenomena, rather than assuming predetermined outcomes.

Recent research projects

One-Person Companies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

I am currently working with Professor Yi Sun at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) on a paper examining one-person companies in the age of artificial intelligence. The study explores their formation logic, conceptual foundations, and possible development strategies, with particular attention to how AI may reshape the boundaries, capabilities, and organizational possibilities of very small firms.

General Education Textbook on the Digital Economy

I am also collaborating with Professor Yi Sun at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) on the development of a general education textbook on the digital economy. The project aims to introduce key concepts, developments, and emerging issues in the digital economy in an accessible and systematic way, while connecting technological change with broader economic, organizational, and societal transformations.
