Two Best Paper Awards for the Bitcoin Blockchain Forensic Analysis Paper from the Centre for Business Data Analytics

Researchers at the Centre for Business Data Analytics of the Department of Digitalization at the Copenhagen Business School have won two best paper awards for their paper on forensic analysis of Bitcoin Blockchain at the 51st Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-2018).

Researchers at the Centre for Business Data Analytics of the Department of Digitalization at the Copenhagen Business School have won two best paper awards for their paper on forensic analysis of Bitcoin Blockchain at the 51st Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-2018).

The paper is titled “Breaking Bad: De-Anonymising Entity Types on the Bitcoin Blockchain Using Supervised Machine Learning” and won the Best Paper Award (Internet and the Digital Economy Track) and the Best Student Paper Award (IBM-SSIP-CBA Student Paper Award) for best Industry-Researcher-Student collaboration.

The paper makes an original contribution in applying supervised machine learning methods to de-anonymize the Bitcoin Blockchain which are highly relevant and useful for several application scenarios in the real-world such as fraud detection, regulatory compliance, and forensic analysis.
