Get ready to ap­ply in Quota 2

When is the deadline?

The deadline for applying through Quota 2 is 15 March at 12:00 noon CET. This is also the deadline for uploading all documentation of activities to be assessed in Quota 2 to your application on optagelse.dk

Do you have a foreign upper secondary exam?

The deadline for applying in both Quota 1 and Quota 2 for applicants with a foreign upper secondary exam, including International Baccalaureate and European Baccalaureate, is 15 March 12.00 noon CET.

Do you meet the entry requirements?

You must always meet the entry requirements for a bachelor programme, regardless of whether you apply through Quota 1 or Quota 2.

Check the English requirements 

When applying for a bachelor programme you must make sure that you meet the English requirements. The specific entry requirement are either: 

  • English level B or
  • English level B with a minimum grade point average of 6.0

Supplementary courses during the summer holidays?

It is not possible to take supplementary courses during the summer holidays. All entry requirements must be passed and documented by 5 July 12:00 CET. 

How do we assess your application in Quota 2? 

In Quota 2 we make an overall assessment of you application. The Quota 2 assessment includes:

  • Motivational essay - only a requirement for certain programmes
  • Activities completed after finishing your upper secondary exam, for example work experience or residential periods at a Folk High School
  • Grades in the specific entry requirements

Do you need to write a motivational essay?

For some programmes, you need to write a motivational essay as part of your application in Quota 2. This is an important part of your Quota 2 application so allow yourself adequate time and put energy into writing it. The following programmes require a motivational essay.

You motivational essay must be in English for: 

  • BSc in Business Administration and Digital Management
  • BSc in Business Administration and Service Management
  • BSc in Business Administration and Sociology
  • BSc in International Business
  • BSc in International Business and Politics
  • BSc in International Shipping and Trade

Your motivational essay must be in Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian for:

  • HA i markeds- og kulturanalyse
  • HA i projektledelse
  • HA(fil.) - erhvervsøkonomi og filosofi
  • HA(psyk.) - erhvervsøkonomi og psykologi
  • HA(kom.) - erhvervsøkonomi og virksomhedskommunikation
  • HA(it) - erhvervsøkonomi og informationsteknologi

Please note: If the programme you are applying for is not on this list, you do not have to write a motivational essay, so save yourself the trouble. Your motivational essay will not be read, even if you upload it.

What to include in your motivational essay?

We want to admit students who come from various backgrounds, with different interests and dreams, and therefore we would like to know more about you:

  • What do you find exciting about the programme? It could be specific subject areas, combinations of subjects or methods of working during the programme, or perhaps how it will help you build upon your own background. 
  • What does community mean to you in your studies? It could involve academic collaboration with other students, a safe and inspiring study environment, the ability to be yourself, or something else that is important to you.

How to apply

You send your application via the application portal optagelse.dk. You have to send your application no later than 15 March at 12:00 noon CET. Read more about how to submit your application via optagelse.dk

Remember to upload documentation

You must also remember to upload documentation for activities to be assessed in Quota 2 no later than 15 March at 12:00 noon CET. This includes:

  • Motivational essay
  • Exam certificates
  • Documentation for work experience
  • Documentation for stays abroad
  • Documentation for other education
  • Documentation for Danish residence permit, if necessary

If you do not already meet the entry requirements, you must upload documentation for meeting them no later than 5 July at 12:00 noon CET. We do not accept documentation uploaded after the deadline. Read more about documentation

Do you have a dis­ab­il­ity such as dys­lex­ia, anxi­ety, aut­ism, ADHD, long-term ef­fects of con­cus­sion or an­oth­er phys­ic­al, psy­cho­lo­gic­al or neur­o­lo­gic­al dis­ab­il­ity? Then you have the op­por­tun­ity to ap­ply for Spe­cial Edu­ca­tion­al Sup­port (SPS) and spe­cial con­di­tions while study­ing. Can you apply for early admission?

Ques­tions about bach­el­or ad­mis­sion at CBS

Here is the an­swer to four fre­quently asked ques­tions about ap­ply for a bach­el­or pro­gramme at CBS.

How do you get a con­firm­a­tion on your ap­plic­a­tion?

If you apply with your MitID, you will receive an email from the application portal optagelse.dk once you have approved your application. This is your confirmation that you have applied. You will receive one email per approved application. CBS does not send any confirmation that we have received your application or signature page.

You do not have Mit­ID?

If you do not have MitID, you must print and sign a signature page for each programme you are applying for. You must send the signature pages to signaturepage@cbs.dk no later than 15 March at 12:00 noon CET.

Afterwards, you will receive an automatic email response as confirmation that CBS has received your email. 

Please note that it is your responsibility to make sure all your signature pages are attached to the email.

Do you need to pay ap­plic­a­tion and tu­ition fee? 

You fin­ish your up­per sec­ond­ary exam this sum­mer. Can you ap­ply in Quota 2?

No, you cannot apply in Quota 2 if you finish your upper seconday exam in 2026.

In Quota 2, your application is assessed, among other things, on activities you have completed after finishing your upper secondary exam. Activities are only included in Quota 2 if at least three months have passed between completing your upper secondary exam and the Quota 2 application deadline. If you complete your qualifying examination this summer, you will not have time to complete any activities that can be included in Quota 2.
